Come and join me at the Central Queens Y’s 3rd Annual Green For Queens Earth Day Fair in Forest Hills on Sunday May 6th from 1pm to 4pm. I will be there all day to talk about our environment, what we can do and educating our community on the subject. It is a free event for the whole family. They have:

deigsn = humanitydeep deigsn = deep humanitywell, the bauhaus is a fine example fo going beyond the surface of deigsn and entering into the social and perhaps even politcal sphere and of course the deigsn of the bauhuas was quite beautiful as well. gropius had an aesthetic vision few of todays deigsners’ can dream of.but one dilemma is this:the bauhaus had a universal manifesto at the time regionalism’ was considered as a block to true progress by the avant-garde’ most of the avant garde at early part of the 20th century in fact were searching for universal truths the russian constrctivists, the german bauhaus, the italian futurists, ect however, I think regionalism’ can be wed with universalism’ thats what we try to do in ALL of our projects here .maybe this step backwords is actually a step in the right direction?btw I appreciate very much the statement:deigsn is by far not everywhere.it is just entering from the surface into the vital parts.
design=humanityor in other words: design is the atmeptt to bring humanity (and the human touch) into a number-driven world. art and technology a new unity walter gropius 1919.the bauhaus succeeded in taming industrialisation with measures of aesthetics. they introduced the human scale to the modern age.design=humanity. design that is build on keen studies of constraints and restrictions is a humanitarian contribution. superficial styling is not.as designers we are humanity workers. a long time has passed since 1919. a long time has passed since then, but we have not come a long way. marketing gave us our place next to advertising agencies and made us forget the meaning and value of our roots.only now we are just taking the second step: design’ being removed from merely superficial attributes and enters corporate strategies and corporate processes. art and industry a still excitingly new unity and a wonderful humanitarian adventure too.design is by far not everywhere.it is just entering from the surface into the vital parts. way to go! the direction is right!
